Mainstream media tabloid blog, TMZ, has reported streaming numbers from Kanye West's live appearance and performance at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and by all accounts, it appears to have been one of the largest Christian events in recent history.
According to reports, the Sunday night service, which featured a rousing and worship-soaked 2-hour concert from Kanye and his Sunday Service Choir saw 4.17 million unique viewers across Facebook and YouTube. A typical Sunday morning service from the church typically pulls in between 700,000 and 1.3 million views making the event more than 4 times the church's normal audience.
The service was also broadcast on SiriusXM and will hit television sets in the coming weeks.
Since releasing his gospel album, Jesus Is King, in late October, Kanye has been on a media blitz proclaiming the transformative power of the Gospel in his own life on late-night talk shows and various interviews. He announced Jesus Is King Part II with Dr. Dre last week.
